What if your life isn’t Instagramable?
Before I even dive in to this message, I just want you all to know that I believe we are all currently living lives that are worthy of Instagram or any other social media channel. Who cares if your pictures or posts aren’t perfect? What makes me happy is seeing other people truly live their lives. I am sure that makes you happy, too!
With that being said, I think you can all relate to not feeling “instagramable”.
What if you don’t have the latest outfit, or job, or dog, or fiancé?
What if you don’t have a blog (and don’t even want one) but you have a message to share?
What if you’re doing really cool things in your life but you’re not sure how to share them? Or you’re afraid of what people will think of you?
I struggle with this a lot.
My life isn’t instagramable. Sometimes I’m exhausted, stressed, irritable and straight up lost. #lifecoachconfessions
I’m not a photographer. I’d rather have a picture than have the perfect picture. I don't understand filters, angles or any of the other super fancy camera things.
There are cool ideas that I have but I’m not sure how to share them in a little square. So they go untapped and even worse, unshared...
Oh, my life also is not perfectly curated. It doesn’t always have the same color scheme. Sometimes it’s black and white, sometimes it’s pops of color and sometimes it’s just a straight up hodge podge of colors. Since when did our lives need a color scheme or a filter!?!
I am never really quite sure if I’m doing Instagram right but I do know i always try to share information and content that I needed to hear at some point in my life. I hope you pick up on my intention rather than the (lack of) skill.
If you’re life doesn't feel instagramable, you’re not alone. I actually think this is normal because living an Instagramable life is somewhat abnormal. I believe we are meant to live our lives outside of the box, er- squares.
Here’s how to get out of the “my life isn’t instagramable” funk:
Quit it. Get off the app. Get off your phone. Go live life in real life. Find the beauty out there. You’re more likely to find your amazing worth out there than in your phone.
Post what you want to post and don’t look back. If you are posting something that will make people smile and make people feel good about themselves, post away. If you’re post is meant to compete or compare, maybe it’s time to think about why that feels like a thing to do.
Learn. If you really want a curated Instagram page, learn how to do it. There are tons of experts out there and people totally crushing the skill side of the ‘gram. Learn how to do it like the pros if that fills your cup!
You are so much more than your Instagram or social media presence. You are a fearfully and wonderfully made person. The Big Guy in the Sky already did all the curating for you.
